AlumSec / Historian

Sisters of the Northeast District,

Early Monday you should have received an email from Ronald Cousins, stepping down from his position of Tau Beta Sigma Northeast District Alumni Secretary/Historian. I would like to thank Ron for his services to the district and to Tau Beta Sigma. He has been a great pleasure to work with and I hope that he will still be involved as an alumni. The TBS NED Constitution describes the process to follow as:
3.502 Should the office of the District Vice President of Membership, District Vice President of Special Projects, District Secretary, District Treasurer, and/or the District Alumni Secretary and Historian be vacated, the District President and District Counselor shall appoint the new officer. Any appointment shall take place no later than thirty (30) days after the office in question has been vacated And the National Constitution describes: 5.308 Should a vacancy occur on the District Council, the remaining District Officers and the District Counselor shall determine the appropriate procedure to fill the office At this time, I would like to extend to you all a wonderful opportunity in applying to fill this open position. Anyone who has ever held a district office can attest to the great reward that it brings. The work of a district officer occurs mostly on your own time, with some set conference calls and meetings at the discretion of the council. Already set-up for this officer is an email address, officer wiggio groups, and alumni networks. I have pasted below the constitutional duties of this officer. Please take note of all of the points regarding historical archives. Our district is in need of some great work in this area, and I am greatly looking forward to working with our Alumni Secretary/Historian with focus on putting together some historical records.

This year being the 25th anniversary of the NED, this officer will also be working to help mold the theme of the convention season to include the history of the district. This officer should expect to travel to precinct and district conventions (dates can be found on the homepage of our district website, tbsned.org) as well as to the Winter Council Meeting in January (travel will be reimbursed per the constitutional and budgetary guidelines). Any questions about expectations and standards can be directed to me via email at nedcounselor@tbsigma.org. Sisters who are eligible and interested in the position may apply as follows: Submit an electronic packet of the following to both the District President (nedpres@tbsigma.org) and District Counselor (nedcounselor@tbsigma.org) by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011: -A letter of intent -One (1) letter of recommendation from the chapter -One (1) letter of recommendation from either the chapter's Sponsor or Director of Bands -A Resume of her activities and qualifications (this may include your 'Action Plan,' a list of ideas for the term and how you plan to accomplish them) Packets will be reviewed by the District President and Counselor, and a final decision will be announced by Tuesday, October 11, 2011. I look forward to reading many great submissions! Let's make this a difficult decision!.
